Contestants sought for fair pageant

Contestants are being sought for the 2009 Union County Fair queen pageant.

The pageant is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Anna City Park in Anna, the home of the Union County Fair.

Fair queen candidates must be single, never married or had a marriage annulled, and never have been pregnant.

Contestants must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of the pageant and not have reached their 22nd birthday by Jan. 1, 2010.

Contestants will be interviewed by a panel of judges.

They will appear in casual attire, an evening gown and a one-piece swimsuit.

Each contestant also will give a one-minute speech and will answer a question on stage.

The 2009 fair queen will participate in the Miss Illinois County Fair pageant in January 2010.

Each contestant will require a sponsor. The deadline for applications and sponsor's fees is Aug. 1.

Applications are available at T&I Office Equipment at 102 S. Main St. in downtown Anna.
