Counseling service conducts coat drive
Union County Counseling Service in Anna is conducting its fourth annual coat drive.
And organizers say the need has never been greater.
The counseling service is collecting clean, gently used coats and jackets.
Coats and jackets in all shapes and sizes are welcome.
Union County Counseling Service plans to distribute reusable coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults.
Area families and individuals are invited to pass along coats and jackets that they no longer need to help with the program.
Clean, gently used coats and jackets can be brought to Union County Counseling Service on South Street in Anna.
Items also can be brought to the Shawnee Development Council, which is located on the grounds of Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna.
Donated coats will be given away on Nov. 23, Dec. 14 and Jan. 4 at the Shawnee Development Council. Hours for coats to be provided will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Last year, Union County Counseling Service gave away more than 157 coats to children and adults. The goal for this year is to give away 300 coats.
