County Reviews Bids For Bulk Fuel Tank System

Plans continue to move forward for the purchase of a bulk fuel tank system as a cost-saving measure for the county.

The Union County Board of Commissioners this week at its regular meeting opened bids for the tanks.

The meeting was Tuesday afternoon at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.

The county is considering installation of the system so fuel can be purchased in bulk. Such purchases would be designed to save the county money.

The county received five bids for installation of the system.

Bids came in at a range from about $79,500 to $146,500. Companies submitting bids were from Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana.

The commissioners authorized county engineer Kevin Grammer to review the bids. Grammer then will make a recommendation to the commissioners.
