Crash occurs at I-57 work site
Illinois State Police District 22 personnel responded to a one-vehicle crash which happened at about 7:35 a.m. Thursday morning, Nov. 17, in Union County.

State police reported that a truck tractor semi-trailer combination driven by Abdisalan H. Abdirisak, 46, of Indianapolis, Ind., went out of control after striking a portion of the interstate that was cut out for repair.
The truck tractor narrowly missed a construction crew which was working on the interstate at the time.
A passenger in the truck tractor, Ali Shire, 34, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken to Union County Hospital in Anna for treatment of minor injuries.
Abdirisak was cited for improper lane usage.
“This crash illustrates the importance of following the speed limit, paying attention and watching for workers in a construction zone,” said Lt. Steven Shields, interim commander of District 22.
