Dongola community Thanksgiving service planned Sunday night

A Dongola community Thanksgiving service is planned Sunday, Nov. 20.

The service will be at 6 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church near Dongola.

The service will open with a prelude by pianist Melissa Bound from St. John's Lutheran Church.

Song leader will be Kyle Kern from First Baptist Church. The opening hymn for the service will be "We Gather Together."

The program for the service follows:

Welcome and invocation by the host pastor, Jay Franklin, of Bethany Baptist Church.

Special music, Julia Bailey, Maple Grove Baptist Church.

Responsive reading, Pastor Victor Duckworth, Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

New Testament lesson, Pastor Tim Heinecke, Dongola Lutheran Parish.

Participating churches rotate as hosts of the community worship service on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving each year.

Participating churches include Bethany Baptist, First Lutheran of Dongola, Mt. Olive Baptist, Maple Grove Baptist, Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian, St. John's Lutheran, Cypress Grove MB, First Baptist of Dongola and Big Creek Baptist.
