Dongola Homecoming planned this Saturday

The 2009 Dongola Homecoming is planned Saturday, June 27.

The annual celebration is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Dongola School grounds.

Dongola High School classes of 1948 through 1955 are planning to have a reunion this weekend.

Masters of ceremony for the homecoming will be Dongola School superintendent Brett Gayer and Paul Sadler, the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Dongola.

Featured entertainment is scheduled to include Brett Gayer, Lyndsey Ferguson, K & I Drifters/Ronnie Gulley Band, Dixon Six/Don Miller Band and the Shenandoah Ranch Band/Butch Crippen.

Hoggy’s Southern Style BBQ will be serving “spoon burgers. “Ice cream, pies and cakes also will be available.

Balloon magic will be presented by Loretta Grant and Jimmy Grant.

The village’s bounce house will be set up. The 4-H will have a fish pond.

A tractor pull is planned. The event will be sponsored by the Union County Tractor Pullers Association.  Weigh-in begins at 11 a.m. The pull begins at noon.

Saturday morning, during regular hours, the Dongola Public Library plans to have an historical display featuring photographs.
