Four area players on Cape Legion squad

Four Union County area high school athletes are playing this summer on the Cape Girardeau American Legion baseball squad.

Results from some of the Cape Girardeau team’s recent games follow:

Cape Giradeau 5, Paducah 0: Tyler Glidewell pitched the 6th and 7th inning and recorded 2 strikeouts in the win.

Brady James and Tyler Brant played 1st and 2nd base, respectively.

Cape Girardeau 11, Calvert City 0: James was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs in the win.

Brant was 1-for-3 and scored 2 runs.

Cape Girardeau 16, Calvert City 3: Brant was 1-for-3 in the sweep in the doubleheader.

Cape Girardeau 5, Sikeston, Mo. 0: James, who played first base, walked twice and scored a run in the win.

Cape Girardeau 10, Sikeston, Mo., 4: Brant pitched 8 innings and allowed 8 hits, including 3 earned runs.

Adam Kelley was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs as the designaated hitter.

James caught 5 innings and had 3 walks and scored a run.

Cape Girardeau 9, Dunklin County 8: Kelley, the winning pitcher, was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs.

James played 1st base and had a double, walk and sacrifice fly, 3 RBIs and scored a run.

Glidewell and Brant are Shawnee High School players. James and Kelley are Anna-Jonesboro prep players.
