Griggs selected to receive customer service award
David Griggs, director of the rehabilitation services department at Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna, has been chosen to receive the 2012 Platinum Customer Service Award from the Illinois Department of Human Services, DHS.
Griggs was nominated by a coworker for “going the extra mile” every day, serving as an example to other employees.
Recipients of the GEM Award (Platinum Customer Service) are selected based on a number of criteria.
Each recipient of the GEM award models platinum customer service in areas including:
Professionalism (courteous, respectful, calm in adverse situations), follow-up on customer requests (responsive, timely), customer interactions (enthusiastic, positive, treats others with dignity and respect), service delivery, and performance (evaluations reflect excellence in human relations, willing to share experience, methods and processes with colleagues).
Griggs has been an employee of the State of Illinois since 1980.
He began work at A.L. Bowen Center and moved to Choate in 1982, where he has worked as a mental health technician, activity therapist, case manager, program developer, supervisor and department manager.
Coworkers said that Griggs is well-respected and is well-deserving of the honor.
Griggs will be formally presented with the GEM award by DHS Secretary Michelle Saddler Jan. 24, 2012, in Springfield.
