Helping hand

To the editor,

If you live in Anna then you have obviously noticed the new trash bins we now have to use if our weekly garbage is to be collected. I have heard good and bad comments concerning the new format for garbage collection, what controversy there can be over garbage.

While there are pros and cons to this situation, one of the cons that comes to my mind is that the bins are heavy and awkward to roll making it difficult on the elderly and handicapped.

While my understanding is the City of Anna is willing to help make accommodations to help people in this situation. I feel that as a citizen of this community we need to take the time and show some compassion and help out a neighbor.

Seriously, if you have someone elderly living next door to you or someone that is handicapped would it take that much time out of life to extend a helping hand for all of five minutes to walk their trash bin to the curb side and back for them as you take your own?

You might ask am I doing this and the answer is yes and so are a few of my friends. I still believe that I live within a community that cares about its elderly and has a heart, its amazing what extending a helping hand can do for your day, not to mention your soul.

Sincerely, Kelle Bass, Anna
