A-J’s Patterson signs to play softball at Southeast Missouri

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School’s Lindsey Patterson has signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

A signing ceremony was held last week at the high school.

“She has very impressive work habits,” A-J softball head coach Kevin Stephens said. “She is the hardest working player I’ve coached. And, she wants to win badly.”

Stephens doesn’t feel Patterson will have any problem fitting in with Southeast Missouri State’s program.

 “She  is very good at learning new coaching methods,” he said. “She will adapt well.”

Last year, Patterson had an 18-4 pitching record with a save for the Lady Wildcats, who finished 30-7 overall.

Patterson had to carry the pitching load when teammate and pitcher Rachel Hayden was injured.

Patterson pitched in 135 innings and gave up 102 hits to go with 125 strikeouts and 40 walks during her junior season.

She had a .417 batting average with 33 RBIs. She had a pair of home runs and struck out 4 times and walked 10 times. She had an on base percentage of .459 and a fielding percentage of .873.

During her sophomore season she had a 0.55 ERA with a 13-1 pitching mark and five saves for the 27-5 Lady Wildcats.

In 113.66 innings pitched, she had 16 runs scored on her and allowed 38 hits. She struck out 183 and walked 44.

She had a .414 batting average with 17 RBIs. She only struck out five times. She had a slugging percentage of .540 and fielding percentage of .940.

During her freshman season, she had a 0.80 ERA with a .420 batting average, a fielding percentage of .940 and a batting average of .360.

She was a member of a Lady Wildcat softball team that finished as the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference champion and regional and sectional champions during her sophomore season.

She is a two-time All-South and all-conference selection in softball.

Patterson also played on the A-J volleyball team, which captured a regional title recently.

She has played summer softball with the Southern Express since she was 10 years old.

Patterson is an honor student with a 4.733 GPA on a 4.0 scale. She plans to major in pre-medicine at Southeast Missouri State.
