A-J girls qualify for six events at state track meet

Anna-Jonesboro qualified in six events for the Class A high school girls’ state track meet in competition at the Carterville sectional Friday, May 15.
The top two finishes in each event or qualifying distances and times advance athletes to the state track meet at Charleston, which is scheduled Thursday, today.
Finishing in first place for the Lady Wildcats were:
Elizabeth Bell in the 800-meter run in 2:26.03.
Kaylee Little in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.68.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Leslie Donna, Bell, Taylor Bound and Whitney Beanland in 8:35.30.
Second place finishes for A-J were recorded by:
Donna in the 800-meter run in 2:27.93.
Little in the triple jump with 33-11.
A-J’s Emma Basler, who finished in 4th place, qualified in the long jump. Basler had a qualifying jump of 16-4.
“We had a great day at sectional,” A-J track coach Mike Eudy said.
Third place efforts for the Lady Wildcats were recorded by:
Lauren Goins in both the 1600-and 3200-meter runs.
Little in the 100-meter hurdles.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Little, Beanland, Bell and Donna.
Bound finished in fifth place in the 400-meter dash.
Carmi won the 16-team meet with 81 points. Benton was next with 77 and A-J finished third with 75.
