A-J golf team awards presented

Two members of the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School boys’ soccer team have received 2011 postseason honors.

Travis Smith was nominated for honorable mention all-section team honors.

Smith scored 31 goals and recorded 8 assists while helping the Wildcats to an 11-8 record for the season.

A-J player Mason Hayward was selected  to the 2011 Chicago Fire all-state all-academic second team.

Mason was selected for the honor from more than 130 nominations.

Those nominated included 17 valedictorians and 63 students who scored 30 or higher on their ACT.

Hayward started this past season as the A-J goalkeeper.
