A-J volleyball team wins second straight regional title

Jordan Edwards had 23 serve receives, 20 good serves, an ace and 16 digs to lead host Anna-Jonesboro to a 25-20 and 25-23 victory over Harrisburg for the championship of the Class 2A regional Saturday, Oct. 30.

A-J won its second consecutive regional title under head coach Amy Fitzgerald Wilson.

Chandra Parr had 9 good serves, 2 aces and 9 kills for A-J.

Emma Basler added 19 serve receives, 6 kills and 14 digs.

Karley Heath had 9 good serves, 2 aces and 5 assists.

Rebecca Mitchell had 6 kills, 4 solo blocks and 5 block assists.

Elise Wheaton had 8 kills, 3 solo blocks and 6 block assists.

Mackenzie Housman had 11 assists.

On Thursday, Oct. 28, A-J defeated Vienna 25-9 and 25-20 in first-round action of the regional.

Edwards had 14 digs and 7 serve receives. Basler had 11 digs and 6 kills.

Parr had 6 good serves and an ace. Heath had 9 good serves and 7 assists. Housman had 6 assists.

Mitchell had 3 solo blocks and a block assist. Wheaton had 6 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists.

A-J, 17-12, was to have played against host Johnston City earlier this week in sectional action.
