A-J Women’s Club meets at Bethany Village in Anna
The Anna-Jonesboro Women’s Club had its November meeting in the conference room at Bethany Village in Anna.
The club “showered” the local food pantry with packaged food items.
Club members present were Betty Coffman,Goldie Petraitis, Millie Hankla, Debbie Sadler, Ann Michels, Judy Smith, Clara Nell Butler, Jane Bauer, Maxine Williamson, Lillian Milam, Betty Dodd and Barbara Bauer.
Bethany Village director Wally King also was present.
A project of the Federated Women’s Clubs is domestic violence education and prevention.
Wally King spoke to the group about the need to provide shelter and resources in the area for a growing number of special needs families.
Other program guests were Judy Travelstead and Doug Hileman from the Union County Courthouse committee.
They showed photos and gave information about the deteriorating condition of the courthouse.
They asked for public consideration for the future of the home of county government.
Public affairs is another focus of Federated Women’s Clubs.
The club’s next meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Anna.
This is a change from the regular meeting day because of a district women’s club meeting.
On the December meeting program are a cultural arts presentation by a group from the Anna Arts Center and a Christmas devotion by Pastor Bill Minor.
There will be a brief business meeting and members will bring Christmas goodies to share in a festive mood.
