James E. Coleson

James E. Coleson, 75, of East Prairie, Mo., formerly of Mounds, died at 1:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1935, in Mounds, the son of Lloyd Edgar and Ruby Bell (Harp) Coleson.

He married Barbara S. Henderson. She survives him.

He was a member of the Olmsted Pentecostal Church. He was a truck driver and retired from John Dallings Trucking. He had also been a fishing guide on Horseshoe Lake. He had worked at the silica mine at Olive Branch.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of East Prairie, Mo.; three daughters, Debbie Smith of Olive Branch, Vickie Barnes of Villa Ridge and Beverly Wilson of Pulaski; one son, Carl Coleson of Mounds; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Coleson of Cape Girardeau and Herschel Coleson of Olive Branch; three sisters, Marian Sams and Sharon Foster, both of Olive Branch, and Judy Perkins of Seymour, Tenn.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Harry, Bill, LeRoy, Richard and Floyd “Sonny” Coleson.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms with Rev. Ralph Kaufman officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
