A-JCHS homecoming celebration activities scheduled next week

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School's 2009 homecoming celebration is planned next week.

The homecoming theme is "Burying the Bulldogs," using the song "Another One Bites the Dust" by the rock music group Queen.

Homecoming week activities are scheduled to kick off Monday, Sept. 21.

A snake dance will start at Stinson Library after the sophomore football team's home game.

The snake dance will end at the high school, where there will be a bonfire and pep rally.

Monday also is the beginning of Spirit Week. The theme for the day is pajama day.

"Old timer Tuesday" is planned for Sept. 22.

"Western Wednesday" is planned for Sept. 23. Coronation of the homecoming queen and king is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school auditorium.

Thursday, Sept. 24, will be "class color and hat day." Colors are black for seniors, red for juniors, yellow for sophomores, green for freshmen, and purple for faculty and staff.

Friday, Sept. 25, is "blue and white day." Blue and white are the school's colors.

Class competitions are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on the track at the school.

The school's annual homecoming parade is set for 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

For information on how to enter a float or other unit in the parade, contact Julie Lewis at A-JCHS, phone 833-8502, extension 210, by Friday, Sept. 18.

For the parade, units will leave the Anna City Park and end up at the A-JCHS parking lot.

Parade units will be asked to enter the park on Sept. 25 at the entrance by the Anna Pool. The parade route will be through downtown Anna.

The homecoming pregame prowl begins at 5 p.m. outside The Pit.

This year, the A-J Wildcats football team will be playing Sparta in the school's homecoming game. The game is set for 7 p.m. next Friday.

An informal dance is planned in the lower gymnasium at the school following the football game. The dance will end at 11 p.m.
