Jim Shingleton

Jim Shingleton, 68, of Makanda, died Saturday, May 5, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1940, in Cobden, the son of Ernest Joe and Janet Ofella Bryant Shingleton.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Dalton of Makanda; a daughter, Dawn Orsino of Cambria; a stepson, Ty Dalton of Anna; two brothers, Bruce (Tina) Shingleton of Makanda and Ray Shingleton of Blairsville; three sisters, Sharon (Bob) Dorris of Carbondale, Paula Ellis of Desoto and Teresa Shingleton of Desoto; three grandchildren, Zane Orsino, Robert and Delilah Dalton; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jon Shingleton; a stepdaughter; Amanda Dalton; two sisters, Patty Dickerson and Vickie Cole; and by one brother, Lloyd “Tiny” Shingleton.

Graveside services for Mr. Shingleton will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, today, in Rowan Cemetery at Makanda. Interment will be in Rowan Cemetery at Makanda. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
