John Ronald “Ron” Cain

John Ronald “Ron” Cain, 72, of Tuscola, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Burial was Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Union County.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Tuscola, the son of Pinckney Moses and Barbara Gertrude Hummel Cain.

He married Carleen Pitts on July 16, 1955, in Arcola.

Survivors include his wife, Carleen Cain of Tuscola; two brothers, Clifford Cain and his wife Clara of Wolf Lake, and Collin “Cork” Cain and his wife Sue of Arcola; two sisters, Maxine Cox and her husband Bill and Shirley Schweighart and her special friend John Waldrop, all of Tuscola; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Junior Cain, Donald Cain and Calvin Cain.

He retired in 1987 as a lab technician from USI after 33 years of service. After retirement he worked as a computer repair supervisor for several years overseeing computer repairs for counties in Illinois.

Later he worked for a CPA firm out of Decatur.

He was on the board of review for the Douglas County assessor’s office. He and his wife Carleen owned and operated an Interior Decorating store in Tuscola. Ron was also an avid photographer.

Ron and Carleen played in the Aching Back String Band for several years. He played the mandolin and she sang. He enjoyed all aspects of the computer. He spent much of his time helping his many friends and family members with anything they needed.

Memorials can be sent to the Arcola Lions Club or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
