Jonesboro girls go 5-1 in recent play
The Jonesboro Junior High School girls’ basketball team posted a 5-1 record in recent action.
Following are game summaries:
Jonesboro 37, Century 29: Madison Calhoun had 10 points and 7 rebounds to lead visiting Jonesboro to the win Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Taylor Smith had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Sammy Brimm added 6 points. Natty Hepburn had 8 assists and 6 steals.
Calhoun scored 10 points, pulled down 9 rebounds and had 3 steals in leading Jonesboro to a 34-20 win over Century in the junior varsity game.
Jaycee Pender added 10 points and 5 steals. Smith had 7 points.
Jonesboro 30, Shawnee 19: Smith had 10 points and 2 steals to lead host Jonesboro to the win Friday, Dec. 10.
Pender added 6 points and 2 steals. Ally Reynolds had 6 points and 11 rebounds. Kylie Richardson had 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Calhoun had 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Jonesboro 40, Vienna 33: Hepburn had 9 points, 3 assists and 5 steals to lead host Jonesboro to the win Monday, Dec. 6.
Reynolds had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Richardson had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Brimm had 4 assists.
Smith had 12 points, 2 assists and 2 steals to lead Jonesboro to a 32-15 win over Vienna in the junior varsity game.
Pender had 10 points and 3 steals. Jody Brown added 3 steals and Hailley Abernathy had 5 rebounds.
Goreville 38, Jonesboro 34: Hepburn had 12 points, 6 steals and 3 assists to lead Jonesboro in the loss in the championship game of the Southern Illini Conference Tournament at Meridian Saturday, Dec. 4.
Richardson added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Brimm had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Aliah Delgado had 6 points.
Jonesboro 44, Cobden 36: Reynolds had 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead Jonesboro in the tournament win Thursday, Dec. 2.
Hepburn added 13 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Brimm had 8 points. Sam Clary had 8 points and 2 assists. Pender had 4 steals. Taylor Smith had 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots.
Jonesboro 31, Anna 29: Hepburn had 8 points, 4 steals and 2 assists to lead Jonesboro in the first round tournament win Monday, Nov. 29.
Smith had 6 points and 7 rebounds. Brimm had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Pender had 6 points and 3 steals. Reynolds had 10 rebounds.
The Jonesboro varsity is 11-2 overall and the junior varsity is 7-0.
