Joseph Cameron “Cam” Freeman
Joseph Cameron “Cam” Freeman, 82, of Grand Tower, passed away at 12:47 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center of Marion.
Cam was born on July 13, 1927 in Grand Tower, IL to Charles Freeman and Louise Lillian (Godair) Freeman.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryan (Kathy) Freeman of Jonesboro, and John Freeman of Niagara, KY; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Gordon) Glodo of Grand Tower; eight grandchildren, Josh (Heidi) Freeman, Charlie (Toni) Freeman, Samantha (Josh) Shirley, and Jennifer Glodo, all of Grand Tower, Phillip (Kelli) Glodo of San Diego, CA, Cassie (Justin) Crowder of Henderson, KY, and Raven and Kelsey Stone of Niagra, KY; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Madge (Les) Mainer of Murphysboro; one sister-in-law, Wanda Pirtle of Glen Carbon; a special friend and companion, Evelyn McCaleb of Grand Tower; and his former wife, June Freeman also of Grand Tower.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.
Mr. Freeman lived in Grand Tower, IL most all of his life and was a member of both the United Methodist Church of Grand Tower and the Teamster Union – Local #347 of West Frankfort, IL.
Cam proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of Grand Tower with Pastor Stephanie Voss officiating. Interment will be at Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower, where military services will be held. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Meredith Funeral Chapel in Grand Tower.
Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Grand Tower and will be accepted by the funeral home.
