Judy Kay Stalions

Judy Kay Smith was born on Feb. 9, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., and died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Ind., with her family by her side.

She married Coy Stalions on Feb. 8, 1974, in Golconda. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2008.

She attended Union County schools in Alto Pass and Anna before moving to Golconda in Pope County.

The Stalions made Golconda their home and raised their family there.

Mrs. Stalions worked at Kunaths grocery for many years and managed Condy’s Convenience Store until her semi-retirement to spend time with her family.

She was an active member of the Golconda First Baptist Church. She liked to help others and spent many hours at the Pope County Care Center visiting loved ones and friends.

Survivors include her children, Kevin Stalions and his wife Christine of Golconda and Kim Stalions Johnson and husband Rick of Vienna; her grandchildren, Noah Michael Stalions and Reagan Lyn Johnson; sisters, Beth (Brett) Campbell of Golconda, Janice Short of Anna, Eliouse Bierer of Vienna and Iris Jurden of Anna; a brother, Walter Smith of Murphysboro; nieces, Samantha Graves, Susan McCarver, Teresa Wilson, Melissa Ziemer, Gina Perry, Debbie Clover, Donna Henderson and Lisa Williams; and nephews, Ronnie Williams, Christopher Smith, Nicholas Campbell, Jackie Cooper, Steve Stalions and Joey Jurden.

In addition to her husband, Coy, she was preceded in death by her mother, Mary E. George; her father, Raleigh Ethridge; her grandmother, Aldonia Ethridge; an uncle, Monteer Ethridge; an aunt, Elouise Drum; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruby and Clyde Stalions.

Funeral services were at the Golconda First Baptist Church in Golconda at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Delwood.

Memorials can be made to the Golconda Public Library.
