Keith Lynn Gibbs

Keith Lynn Gibbs, 51, of Carbondale, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Gibbs had worked for the Kroger Company for 35 years.

He had been store manager at the Kroger store in West Frankfort before coming to the Kroger store in Anna.

Mr. Gibbs served as manager of the Kroger store in Anna for five years. During that time, he oversaw a remodeling of the store.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin. He liked to fish and liked taking trips to Alaska to go fishing.

He was born on March 31, 1958, in Sparta, the son of Ben and Serena K. Wilmouth Gibbs.

He is survived by his parents, Ben and Serena Gibbs of Du Quoin, a brother, Benjie R. Gibbs and wife June of Du Quoin; a sister, Kellie Swayne and husband Andy of Du Quoin; nephews and nieces, including Philip Gibbs, Jason Gibbs, Holly Gibbs, Caleb Swayne, Benjamin Swayne, Spenser Swayne and Madison Swayne; and aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Burial was in Dutch Ridge Cemetery at Carbondale.
