Knop pitches Logan to win
DaCota Knop was the winning pitcher in John A. Logan College’s 9-6 victory over visiting St. Charles, Mo., in community college softball action. Knop started the opening game of a doubleheader Thursday, March 1, in Carterville.
Knop, 1-1 this season, had 5 strikeouts, walked no one and allowed 9 hits.
Jayda Rendleman had three hits, including a solo home run and 2 RBIs, to lead the hitting attack. Kayla Quertermous added a hit and an RBI.
The Lady Volunteers lost the nightcap 10-2. Rendleman had a hit and an RBI in the loss.
Knop and Quertemous are former Cobden High School athletes. Rendleman is a former Anna-Jonesboro Community High School athlete.
