At Special Season
The Cobden High School girls basketball team advanced further than any girls' team in school history before losing in the super-sectional to Winchester West Central Monday, Feb. 23.
The Appleknockers, who were playing in their first super-sectional ever, finished with the girls' best record at the school at 27-5.
Following are game summaries:
Winchester West Central 48, Cobden 38: Jenna Lehr closed out her high school career by leading the way for the Appleknockers with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Another senior, Cassidy Grey, also closed out her prep career with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Both Lehr and Grey topped the 1,000-point career scoring mark this season.
Cobden 32, Pope County 24: Jenna Lehr scored 10 points to lead the Appleknockers to the championship of the sectional at Albion Thursday, Feb. 19. Ana Duda added 9 points.
Cobden 39, Red Hill 36: Ana Duda had 25 points to lead Cobden to the first-round sectional win at Albion Monday, Feb. 16. Taylor Orsburn added 5 points.
Cobden 52, Goreville 50: Jenna Lehr made a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds remaining to lead Cobden to the regional championship over the host Blackcats Thursday, Feb. 12.
Jenna Lehr finished with 21 points. Cassidy Grey added 15.
Cobden 70, Egyptian 39: Ana Duda scored 14 points to lead Cobden to the first-round win in the regional at Goreville Tuesday, Feb. 10. Taylor Orsburn added 9 points.
Cobden 70, Century 38: Cassidy Grey scored 26 points to lead the host Appleknockers to close out regular season action Saturday, Feb. 7.
Jenna Lehr added 12 points and Taylor Orsburn 10.
Goreville 64, Cobden 48: Ana Duda scored 18 points to lead visiting Cobden Monday, Feb. 2. Rachel Bottje added 10 points.
Cobden 53, Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher 42:Ana Duda scored 18 points to lead visiting Cobden Tuesday, Feb. 3. Jenna Lehr added 17 points.
Cobden 55, Goreville 53: Jenna Lehr scored 15 points to lead Cobden to the championship of the South Egyptian Conference tournament held at Goreville Jan. 31.
Jenna Lehr was named the most vaulable player in the tournament. Ana Duda added 14 points.
Cobden 58, Egyptian 39: Jenna Lehr scored 17 points to lead Cobden to the win in the SEC tourney Friday, Jan. 30.
Ana Duda added 14 points and Cassiday Grey 11.
Cobden 68, Joppa 24: Cassidy Grey scored 13 points to lead Cobden to the win in first-round SEC tourney action at Dongola Jan. 26. Katelyn Wiggs added 10 points.
Cobden 53, Joppa 10: Kayla Quertermous and Bekah Russell scored 10 points apiece to lead host Cobden Jan. 22.
Cobden 54, Trico 43: Jenna Lehr scored 25 points to lead the visiting Appleknockers Jan. 21. Cassidy Grey added 14 points.
Cobden 66, Egyptian 49: Ana Duda scored 20 points to lead visiting Cobden Jan. 19. Katelyn Wiggs added 12 points and Rachel Bottje 10.
Cobden 51, Shawnee 7: Katelyn Wiggs scored 11 points to lead the way for host Cobden Jan. 15. Ana Duda added 9 points.
Cobden 73, Dongola 12: Katelyn Wiggs and Rachel Bottje had 12 points apiece to lead visiting Cobden Jan. 12. Ana Duda added 10 points.
Cobden 57, A-J 45: Ana Duda had 14 points to lead visiting Cobden Jan. 10. Rachel Bottje added 10 points.
Cobden 52, Meridian 32: Jenna Lehr scored 18 points to lead visiting Cobden Jan. 8. Katelyn Wiggs added 12 points and Ana Duda 9.
Pope County 53, Cobden 36: Cassidy Grey led Cobden with 19 points in the loss in the final game of the Herrin Holiday tournament Dec. 30.
Pinckneyville 37, Cobden 31: Ana Duda had 15 points to lead Cobden in the loss in the Herrin tourney Dec. 30.
Herrin 57, Cobden 42: Cassidy Grey scored 13 points to lead Cobden in the tourney loss Dec. 29.
Cobden 60, Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher 36: Cassidy Grey led the way for Cobden with 15 points in the tourney win Dec. 27. Ana Duda and Rachel Bottje had 11 points apiece.
Cobden 55, Vienna 43: Jenna Lehr had 18 points to lead Cobden in the first round tourney win Dec. 26.
Taylor Orsburn added 13 points and Ana Duda 10.
Cobden 48, Johnston City 37: Cassidy Grey scored 20 points to lead host Cobden Dec. 18. Jenna Lehr added 15 points.
Cobden 40, Elmhurst Immaculate Conception 34: Ana Duda led the way with 14 points in the Cobden Shootout Dec. 13.
Cobden 52, Egyptian 26: Ana Duda scored 12 points to lead visiting Cobden Dec. 10. Jenna Lehr added 10 points.
Cobden 64, Chester 30: Rachel Bottje scored 16 points to lead host Cobden Dec. 4.
Kayla Quertermous added 10 points.
Cobden 42, Pope County 38: Cassidy Grey had 11 points to lead visiting Cobden in its regular season opener Nov. 25.
Cobden 65, Galatia-Thompsonville 47: Taylor Orsburn scored 17 points to lead Cobden in the championship of the Lady Bobcat Classic held at Meridian Nov. 17-22.
Cobden 69, Elverado 12: Jenna Lehr led the way with 11 points in the first win in the Classic Nov. 18.
Cobden 61, Meridian 15: Katelyn Wiggs led the way with 14 points in the first-round win in the Classic Nov. 17.
Ana Duda added 9 points. Jenna Lehr was named the MVP and Taylor Orsburn and Ana Duda were named to the all-tournament team.
