Mondianna HCE Unit hosts annualUnion County 4-H project showing

Mondianna HCE Unit and their husbands hosted the Union County 4-Hers, their parents and their leaders at their annual wiener roast picnic and 4-H project showing at the Fred and Barbara Pitts family picnic shelter Monday evening, July 13.

After the meal, the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge, 4-H leader Verna Fuller called on the 4-H members to show their projects and tell about them.

Erin Dillow created a poster about chickens and showed her very well behaved rooster, Scratch.

Demi Glasco showed her dog Bear and the tricks she had taught him to perform.

Michael Hill showed a wooden model plane that he and his father had made, also a booklet of various cars he had drawn for a visual arts project.

Madison Wright told about her cooking project of baking cookies and brownies. She will show a chicken and a rabbit at the 4-H fair.

Logan Mattingly had a cooking project. He brought several trays of cupcakes he had made and decorated for everyone to sample.

Jessie Francis had a program on horses. She has shown the horse at various shows and fairs, and is continuing to learn how to train and show a horse.

Javan Phillips chose to learn sewing and tailoring. He displayed a purple satin and velvet cloak with tasseled hood.

Angel Helm displayed a rocket she had made, and a picture poster of this.

Nina Mattingly showed her dog, and how she is learning to make it perform tricks. She also had a computer basics project.

Delany Plott prepared and presented a booklet about various breeds of cats.

Jessica Dillow chose a visual arts project: calligraphy. She displayed a kit she works with and showed various pens and inks.

Paul Hileman chose a dog project and told about that.

Christopher Hill has several projects he is working on, including computers, woodworking, and aerospace.

No formal business meeting was held. The unit’s next meeting will be Aug. 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Home Extension office in Anna.
