Motorists reminded about speed limit on Heacock Street in Jonesboro
Jonesboro officials are cautioning motorists to remember the posted speed limit on a recently repaved street in the Union County city.
The issue was discussed at a regular meeting of the Jonesboro City Council. The meeting was Monday night, Dec. 7, at Jonesboro City Hall.
Concerns focus on Heacock Street. The street was recently repaved, making it much smoother.
The nicer street apparently has led some motorists to forget that Heacock has a speed limit of 30 miles per hour.
The city will be cracking down on motorists who exceed the speed limit.
In other business at last week's meeting:
The city council voted to increase the cost of connecting water service from $350 to $400.
The increase was effective immediately and reflected higher costs for the city to do the work.
With the $350 fee in place, the city had been barely breaking even on the work which was done to connect customers.
