2016 Union County Fair planned in Anna

The 2016 Union County Fair in Anna is scheduled to get underway Friday, Aug. 19.

Fair activities continue through Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Anna City Park, which is the home of the fair each year.

Here’s a look at the schedule of events at this year’s fair:

Friday, Aug. 19

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open show registration at the fair office. Those who plan to register are asked to not bring their exhibits; only tags will be given out.

5 p.m. Carnival opens. Ride armbands are $15 each or two for $25.

7 p.m. Ranch rodeo in front of the grandstand. Adults $6, children $3.

Saturday, Aug. 20

8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Entries taken for the junior horse show in the office.

8 a.m. FFA livestock show, junior show arena.

9 a.m. Junior horse show, horse arena. Junior rules will be enforced.

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Junior entry registration. Exhibitors are to bring their exhibits with them.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open show registration at the fair office. No exhibits are to be placed on this day in open show classes. Only tags will be given. Exhibitors do not bring their exhibits, as they cannot be placed in the exhibit hall until Monday.

3 p.m. Entry office closed for junior entries to prepare for judging.

4 p.m. Junior Classes N and P and ages 5-8, will be judged in the exhibit hall.

6 p.m. Gaited and western horse show, in front of the grandstand. Adults $6, children $3.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open. Armbands $15 and one for a buddy. Both must be present at time of the purchase and have armbands placed at time of purchase.

Sunday, Aug. 21

Adult entries will be taken in the office from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and can be placed in the brown exhibit hall.

1:15 p.m. Pet parade registration, junior show arena.

2 p.m. Pet parade, junior show arena.

4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Junior exhibit area open, exhibit hall.

5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Community worship service, grandstand.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open. Kids night at the carnival. Armbands are $15 each or two for $25.

7:30 p.m. Union County Fair Queen pageant, grandstand. General admission tickets: adults $8 and children $5.

Monday, Aug. 22

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open registration, fair office, bring exhibit items (exhibit building closes at 6 p.m.).

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Junior livestock registration, fair office.

3 p.m. Junior tractor operators contest, infield near grandstand.

4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Junior exhibits in exhibit building open.

5 p.m. Sale cattle weighin.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open. Armbands are $15 or two for $25 (adults and children).

7 p.m. Meeting for all junior livestock exhibitors.

7:30 p.m. Steve Hornbeak and the Mainstreet Players. General admission tickets: $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Tuesday, Aug. 23

8 a.m. Open class livestock and exhibit judging.

9 a.m. 4-H livestock show, junior show arena.

10 a.m. Mule/donkey halter classes, heavy horse and mule barn.

1 p.m. Heavy horse show, heavy horse and mule barn.

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibit building open.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open, $15 or two for $25 armbands for adults and children.

6 p.m. Peewee showmanship, junior show arena.

7:30 p.m. Antique tractor pull in front of the grandstand.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

9 a.m. Junior swine and sheep judging, junior show arena.

9 a.m. Open dairy judging.

1 p.m. Junior livestock beef judging, junior show arena.

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibit building open.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open, $15 or two for $25 armbands for adults and children.

7:30 p.m. Tractor pull in front of the grandstand. General admission tickets: adults $8 and children $5.

Thursday, Aug. 25

Children’s Day: Ride armbands for children will be discounted: Buy one armband for $15 and get an armband free.

Veteran’s Day: All veterans showing veteran’s organization membership cards or wearing a veteran’s organization cap will be admitted free to the fair.

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibit building open

6 p.m. Junior livestock auction, junior show arena, free admission.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open. Buddy Night: Buy one armband for $15 and get one free.

7:30 p.m. Championship rodeo. New night, new company.

Friday, Aug. 26

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibit building open.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open, $15 or two for $25 armbands for adults and children.

7 p.m. Demolition derby, in front of the grandstand. General admission tickets: $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Saturday, Aug. 27

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drones, bots and automatons at the fairgrounds.

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibit building open.

5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Carnival open, $15 or two for $25 armbands for adults and children.

7 p.m. Demolition derby in front of the grandstand. General admission tickets: $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Sunday, Aug. 28

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibits to be claimed in the exhibit building.

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibitor checks available in the fair office.
