Jonesboro School Junior Beta Club earns honors at national convention

The Jonesboro School Junior Beta Club traveled to Oklahoma City, Okla., during the summer to attend Junior Beta Club Nationals.

The club earned the trip to the nationals after qualifying at state, which was held in February in Springfield.

The team placed 10th nationally for its Service Snapshot project, which included raising awareness and funds for an all-inclusive playground in memory of Hadley Ashby.

The project’s heads were Lily Baker, Emily Mowery and Austin Adams.

The marketing and communications team took third place nationally for its pitch to bring art classes back to school.

The team’s members included Miranda Bundren, Ally Hasty, Torie Ralls and Alexandria Keller.

Mya Laster won a third place national award for her individual art entry.

After a successful five days at nationals, the team toured the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial and Museum before heading home.

Junior Beta Club is for students in grades 7 and 8 and is led at Jonesboro School by Jama Eddleman.

The convention meets yearly at different locations, and hosts 20,000 others from all over the country.
