Solar eclipse program set at wetlands center
The upcoming Aug. 21 total solar eclipse will be the focus of a program which is planned Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center near Cypress.
The program is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The wetlands center is located at 8885 State Route 37 South.
A Galaxy Ride team from the Adler Planetarium in Chicago is scheduled to be at the wetlands center on Aug. 17.
The team is making its way from Chicago to visit towns of all sizes.
The Aug. 17 program will offer an opportunity to: view the sun through a telescope, touch a piece of the moon, talk to an astronomer, learn how eclipses work and discover the size and scale of the sun, earth and moon.
Those who come to the program also will have a chance to get solar viewing glasses provided by the planetarium, while supplies last.
