Preserving local landmark

In respect for the family and throughout the extended serious illness and recent death of Michelle Tripp Robinson, PAST has been reluctant to advertise or push in any way to raise further funds to purchase her parents' home, "The House Where Lincoln Stayed."

At this time, Jim and Pat Tripp have contacted us and expressed their wishes that they would like to proceed with the transaction. They still intend to move to Alabama and are anxious to do so.

Our fundraising is within $3,500 of the required amount necessary to apply for matching funds through the Illinois tourism grants.

Anyone wishing to support us in this community endeavor is asked to send donations or signed pledges to PAST, PO Box 778, Jonesboro, Ill. 62952.

All gifts are tax-deductible and may be returned upon request in case the matching grant is not received.

The beautifully restored Tripp home is a landmark reminder of the visit to Union County of the most important man in our country's history.

We appreciate any help to ensure its use for the community and its preservation for the next 150 years.
