Gingerbread house contest planned

Southern Real Estate Group is sponsoring a gingerbread house contest which will be held in conjunction with Christmas in Downtown Anna on Saturday, Nov. 28.

There are three age categories, ages 4-12, ages 13-18 and 18 and older. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The contest rules are as follows:

Gingerbread houses must be made entirely of edible ingredients. No kits are allowed in the adult division. Entries will be judged as follows:

Overall Appearance - 20 points. Difficulty - 25 points. Design - 20 points. Originality - 15 points. Imagination - 10 points. Use of Materials - 10 points. Use of color - 10 points. Total points - 110 points.

Entries should be brought to the Southern Real Estate Group office on weekdays on Nov. 20-27. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Houses will remain on display until Dec. 18 and may be picked up after that date. All participants should fill out an entry form before leaving the office.

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. Refreshments will be served from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southern Real Estate Group office.
