Congratulations, Lady Appleknockers

Simply put, they are good. Really, really good.

With a victory over Lebanon last Saturday afternoon in East Peoria, the Cobden Lady Appleknockers softball team won their third state Illinois High School Association Class 1A championship.

Winning the first championship was a significant accomplishment in itself. A second title reflected the continued hard work of the team's players and coaches. The third championship is almost unprecedented in the history of Illinois high school sports competition.

We take this opportunity to join the many others who already have congratulated the Cobden softball team for its record of continued achievement.

To the players and coaches, to those who assisted the team in any way, to the families of the team members, to the school, to the fans, to all of those involved in any way with this special accomplishment – we say job well done.
