A-J in 3A state football quarterfinals Host Mt. Carmel Saturday afternoon

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School is set to host a quarterfinal round game this Saturday in the Illinois High School Association Class 3A football playoffs.

The Wildcats will face Mt. Carmel in the game. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at The Pit, A-J's home field.

Ticket prices for the game are $6 for everyone. Gates open at 11 a.m.

For those who can't make it to the game, WIBH radio in Anna will air all of the playoff action.

A-J comes into the game with a 9-2 record. Mt. Carmel is 10-1.

A-J earned a spot in the quarterfinals with a 39-26 win over host Breese Central last Saturday.

Mt. Carmel outscored Benton 42-9 in playoff action last Saturday.

Four quarterfinal games are set for this Saturday in the 3A playoffs.

Here's a look at Saturday's schedule, along with how each team is seeded:

No. 7 seed Virden (North Mac), 7-4, at No. 1 Greenville, 11-0, 1 p.m.

No. 2 Mt. Carmel at A-J.

No. 3 Winnebago, 9-2, at No. 1 Aurora (Aurora Christian), 10-1, 6 p.m.

No. 6 Macomb, 8-3, at No. 1. Tolono (Unity), 10-1, 1:30 p.m.

Saturday's winners will advance to the semifinal round.

Winners in the semifinal will move on to the 3A state championship game, which is set for 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Memorial Stadium in Champaign.
