Head Start program schedules registration

Southern Seven Head Start is a federally funded program for preschool children 3 to 5 years of age from income eligible families.

All Head Start centers provide a preschool education program, healthy meals and transportation depending on a family’s location of residence.

Children can be dually enrolled with area pre-kindergarten programs and daycare centers.

Head Start also provides a home base option for ages six weeks to 5 years.

Parents interested in finding out more about the Head Start program and enrolling their children for the 2009-10 school year can meet with Head Start staff on the following dates and locations:

July 24 at the Anna Head Start site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

July 27 at the Rustic Head Start near Ullin from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southern Seven Health Department will be available on the date of Head Start registration to provide required health services such as immunizations, blood lead and hemoglobin screenings.

Parents are advised to bring a current shot record and a legal guardian must accompany the child for services to be provided.

To complete the enrollment application, parents will need to bring a birth certificate for the child and verification of the family’s income.

Parents who are interested but are not available on the scheduled dates can inquire about Head Start by calling the Southern Seven administrative office at 800-698-4820.
