Carole Ann Wilson West

Carole Ann Wilson West, 87, of Cobden, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at Metropolis Rehab and Nursing.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1937, in Wolf Lake, the daughter of George Dewey “DG” and Caroline Rendleman Wilson. 

She married Marvin Lynn West and they shared over 66 years of marriage. He survives.

Mrs. West earned her RN in 1958 from Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She later received her BA from Southern Illinois University.  

She was the director of nurses at Anna Hospital in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She then became the school nurse at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Lynn “Red” West; sons Don West and Mark West; and a brother, Dan Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a sister, Jean Wilson.

Inurnment will be at Anna City Cemetery at a later date.
