Vera June Bridge

Vera June Bridges of Olive Branch, Ill., formerly of Godfrey, Ill. is gone from our presence, but forever in our hearts, to linger in the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior. Vera was of the Baptist faith.

Preceded in death by her parents Otis and Goldia Burns, her husband Don Bridges, her daughter Debra McGrath, her son Bill Bridges, two brothers Mike Burns and Bob Burns and a sister Thelma Little.

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother never to be forgotten by all who know her. Always there to lend a hand, a word or embrace to all who needed comfort. A gentle soul, who could be tough when she had to!

Those remaining to mourn her passing are two sisters, Sandra Wallake (Tom) and Linda Powell, a daughter-in-law Edie Bridges, three grandsons, Shane Marczak (Megan), Tim Woodrome (Ann) and Brad Bridges (Mary) and one granddaughter, Brandy Anderson (Nate), three great grandsons, Ian, Brandon and Benjamin and two great granddaughters, Tierney and Layla, other children that she treated as her grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Madelynn and Briley, many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vera was not an idle person, she stayed active in her church, First Baptist Church in Tamms, Ill. and served many years as a board member of Horseshoe Lake Chamber in Olive Branch, doing what she could to help others and was very popular for her homemade jams and jellies at Labor Day, along with her husband Don's home-raised honey.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Pastor Bob Kirby will officiated. Interment will followed in St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Lunch to follow at First Baptist Church in Tamms provided by the ladies that Vera would work with and loved in their church projects.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to First Baptist Church in Tamms in memory of Vera June Bridges.
