Angela M. Kearney

Angela M. Kearney, age 54, of Metropolis, formerly of Cairo, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 19, 1970 to Jim Lucas and Patsy Ann (Vaughn) Duke in Detroit, Mich.

Angela was a woman of deep faith and when her health permitted, she worshipped at Grace Valley Baptist Church in Kevil, Ky..

She loved Shopping, cooking, and decorating. Being a Mom was her #1 priority and her family lovingly called her “The General.”

Survivors include her husband, Edward Kearney; children, Benjamin Lucas Phelps (Natasha Alvarez), Derrick Thomas (Desiree) Kearney, Makayla Beth Kearney (Parker Reno), and Emily Michelle Kearney; step-daughters, Chelsea Kearney and Rachel (Ryan) Hutchison; brother, Stacy Michael Duke (Deanna Hargrove); five step- grandchildren, Oliver Hutchison, Henry Hutchison, Delilah Hutchison, Miah Grief, and Ace Grief.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant son, Stephen Paul Kearney.

Funeral Services were  held on Thursday, Dec. 18 with Rev. Mark Lambert officiating at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, Ill. 

Interment followed the service at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill.

Crain Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
