James R. Poole

James R. Poole, age 66, of Tamms, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1960 to Jimmie Lee and Josephine Pearl (Dakin) Poole in Chicago, Ill. 

On Feb. 14, 1984, he married Dawn M. Campbell and they have been with one another for over 41 years.

James attended Egyptian High School in Tamms, Ill. 

Prior to retirement, James had worked at Covia for over 37 years. He loved spending time with his family, any activity involving the outdoors, cooking, and he loved working with his hands.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn; two sons, Jimmy (Ashley) Poole and Travis (Katie) Poole; one daughter, Kimberly (Kenneth Jr) Lewis, 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Billy (Debbie) Poole and Mike (Julie) Poole; and brother-in-law, Billy Nale.

Along with his parents, Jimmie Lee and Josephine Pearl (Dakin) Poole, he is preceded in death by one sister, Becky Nale; one grandchild, Cadence Lewis; two nephews, Joshua Poole and Zachary Poole, and father-in-law, James Russell Campbell.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, Feb. 6, with Rev. Clint Nale and Rev. Stephen Clardy officiating at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. 

Interment followed the service at St. John’s Cemetery in Dongola, Ill.
