Arthur E. Burke

Arthur E. Burke, 89, of Grand Tower, died at 7:55 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on March 3, 1927, in Grand Tower, the son of George Edward and Julia Ann Vanover Burke.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the U.S. government in St. Louis and Atlanta, Ga., for eight years then returned to St. Louis and worked as an office manager for American Greeting Cards for 33 years.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Heckes of Wolf Lake; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by siblings Lillian Burke-Falkenburry, Margaret Burke Qualls and George Burke Jr.
