Barbara June Crecelius

Barbara June Crecelius, 84, of Olmsted, Ill. passed away at 1:46 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Barbara was born and raised in Mound City, Ill. She was born March 5, 1941, daughter to James Russell and June (Trammel) McGill.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski. Barbara played the saxophone in the Shawnee College Band. She was a former librarian in Mound City. Barbara was an animal lover, loved being outdoors and riding 4-wheelers with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Russell and June McGill; her siblings, Lester and Lynn McGill and Doris Funston; her son, Tim Crecelius; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Jewel Crecelius; and her daughter-in-law, Diana Crecelius.

Survivors include her son, Michael R. Crecelius; sister, Linda (Sam) Johnson; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Elsie Jones; former husband, Ray Crecelius; grandchildren, Amy, Adam, Terry, Jenny and Raymond; a host of great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Brian Lingle will officiate. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery in Olmsted, Ill.
