Barbara Porterfield

Barbara Porterfield, 86, of Dongola, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1938, in Union County, the daughter of Ralph Sr. and Hallie Stutes Glasford.

On Nov. 29, 1958, she married her forever love, Richard Leon Porterfield, and together they spent over 64 years together until his passing in November of 2023. 

She was a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She loved her family very much and enjoyed every minute of the time she spent being a mother, a grandmother and a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Stephen (Charlotte) Porterfield; daughter Trisha Porterfield; granddaughter Danielle (Will) McKenzie; grandson Gregory Porterfield; great-grandchildren McKenna McKenzie and Raelynn McKenzie; brothers Philip (Libby) Glasford and Ralph Jr. (Darlene) Glasford; and many nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Goodpasture, Mayme Petty and Emily Petty.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Matthew Ashley officiating.

Interment followed the funeral service at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
