Blanche Marie Thorn

Blanche Marie Thorn, 73, of Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 1, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

Blanche was born on June 5, 1951, in Karnak to Charlie Paige and Alice May (Harris) Burns. 

She was united in marriage to Gary Dean Thorn on April 19, 1969, at the Jonesboro Pentecostal Church. They shared almost 51 years of marriage together, before he preceded her in death on March 6, 2020.

Blanche had a servant’s heart and fervently loved the Lord. She always made sure her family and those around her were taken care of. Blanche enjoyed cooking and feeding her family. She was the happiest helping others.

Blanche is survived by her three children, Deana (Jason) Englebright of Johnston City, Micah (Katie) Thorn of Crosby, Texas, and Kimberly (Mark) Dimock of Johnston City; grandchildren, Haley (Justin) Muniz, Erin (Connor) Reed, Emily Thorn, Madilyn Thorn, Ava Thorn, Tucker Dimock, and Holden Dimock; great-granddaughter, Evelynn Reed; three siblings, Gene Burns, Roberts Burns, and Marilyn Raglin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; several siblings, infant brother, Odale Burns, Kenneth Burns, and Beverly Adams.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with her son-in-law, Pastor Mark Dimock officiating. 

Interment followed at Herrin City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to her daughter and son-in-laws church, Revival Fire Tabernacle. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home on the day of service.
