Cathie Maginel
Cathie Maginel, 88, of Jonesboro, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Illinois Veterans Home.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1927, in Green Bay, Wis., the daughter of Henry A. and Rose Warren Sterns.
She graduated from St. Lukis Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.
She married Calvin J. Maginel on Aug. 13, 1949, in Kaukauna, Wis.
She was an active supporter of the Barkhausen Center and also This Able Veteran organization for those wishing to remember her. She was a member of the Southern Illinois Audubon Society, Illinois Native Plant Society and The Nature Conservancy. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin J. Maginel; four children, Jim (Mary) Maginel of Olive Branch, David (Marianne) Maginel of Olive Branch, John (Paige) Maginel of Perks, Dan Maginel and Miguel Pou of Sitges, Spain; four grandchildren, Calvin III, Katie, Bryce and Henry; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Cathie Maginel were a private service on Monday, June 13. Interment was in the Maginel Family Cemetery.
