Clay Edward Carter

Clay Edward Carter, of Lakeland, Fla., the son of the late Crawford Eugene “Red” and Myrna Brazill Carter, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022.  He was born on July 19, 1955, in Union County.  

Clay’s father, mother and one brother, Ricky Carter, preceded him in death.

Clay is survived by his loving daughter; Miranda Carter-Hutchison, a grandson, Cody Hutchison; one sister, Sandy (Gary) Thompson; two brothers, Jamie (Missy) Carter and Kelly Carter; many other family members and friends.

Clay attended Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He was baptized at the First Christian Church in Anna in 1976.  

Clay enjoyed riding his motorcycle and many other hobbies. Clay was retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he was a store supply supervisor.

Clay will be sadly missed by his beloved daughter, Miranda Carter Hutchison. She mourns his loss.

As a Celebration of Life, on private property, a tree will be planted in my Dad’s name, honoring his memory and my love for him – Miranda Carter-Hutchison.
