Clyde E. Schluter, 88, of Anna, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Dongola, the son of Clyde L. and Velma Johnson Schluter.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was captured when his B-29 bomber was shot down.  He was a POW for 10 long months, returning home in September of 1953 to the arms of his loving family.

He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, music and tending to his garden, among other things.

He is survived by his daughters, Jerri Schluter (Mike DaViera) of St. Anne and Nora Behrens (Tom) of Whiting, Ind.; grandchildren Amanda Fielder (Nick) of Whiting, Ind., and Zachary Behrens, also of Whiting, Ind.; a brother, Billy Schluter of Anna; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Schluter was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Schluter; his parents; sisters Florence McIntosh, Gail McIntosh, Ruth Trampe and Fern McIntosh and an infant daughter, Terri Denise.
