Connie Lou Mays
Connie Lou Mays, 78, of Anna, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1943, in Elco, the daughter of Claud and Freda Dickerson Winn.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Lee (Rusty) Cunningham, Sandra Kay (Terry) Pickel and Ronald Wayne Mays; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Ivy, Sarah, Jason, Justin, Andrea and Ryan; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Marilyn) Winn and Jack (Carroll Ann) Harvell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Sherman Mays Jr.; and five siblings, Ruth Kinder, Pat, Gene and Carol Ann Winn and J.D. Burnett.
She was a member of the Anna Church of the Nazarene. She retired from the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna, where she worked as a seamstress. She had previously been a hairdresser and beautician.
She loved dancing, sewing, traveling and visiting resale shops, yard sales and auctions. She was a member of the Anna Elks and Moose Lodges.
Funeral services for Connie Lou Mays were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Anna Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Mike Winn officiating. Interment followed in the Anna City Cemetery.
Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna was in charge of arrangements.
