Cynthia Jane Benson

Cynthia Jane Benson, 59, of Anna, died at 8:36 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Herrin Hospital.

She was born on July 13, 1957, in Aurora, the daughter of James William and Margarette Francis Cunningham Benson.

She is survived by her mother, Fran (Joe) Waldrop of Tuscola; her father, James (Jean) Benson of Jackson, Tenn.; siblings Michael Benson, Marcia (Marlo) Woolcott, Joe (Laura) Benson, Stephen Benson and Mathew Benson; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark D. Benson.

She enjoyed her career as a legal secretary for over 20 years. When not at work she loved hiking with her three dogs and close friends. Her hobbies included gardening and playing piano. Cynthia’s favorite hobby was sewing; she loved designing her own clothing. She was an avid collector through her life.

A celebration of life for Ms. Benson will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Giant City Park near Makanda.
