David Dewayne “Catfish” Wright
David Dewayne “Catfish” Wright, age 64 of Carbondale, formerly of Union County, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1961 in Anna, the son of Wayne “Dutch” and Shirley (Walker) Wright.
David is survived by his son, Josh Wright and step-daughter, Julie Kinder-Franklin both of Alamogordo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Kutter Jackson and Marlea and Illyanah Wright; step-grandchildren, Sarah Miller and Jared Franklin; sister, Shavonna (John) Shipley; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
“Catfish”, as he was known to most, worked as an over the road truck driver, a job he truly loved.
He enjoyed goose and duck hunting and served as a hunting guide for many years. He liked the simple things in life, such as fishing and Nascar.
A memorial visitation to honor the life of David “Catfish” Wright was held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
