Donald Ray Hickam
Donald Ray Hickam, 87, of Pomona, was surrounded by loved ones when he took his last breath at home on Nov. 28, 2024.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1937, the son of Aubrey and Lydia Berry Hickam of Alto Pass.
He is survived by four of his six children, Lonnie (Kim) Hickam, Sharon Smith, Lisa (Jesse) Lowe and Nancy (Junior) Bailey, along with 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Ron Rendleman and his ex-wife, Virginia Hickam.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings James Hickam, Ester Bennett, Willard Dale Hickam and Janice Rendleman; a daughter, Loretta Lynn Hickam; and a son, Raymond Hickam.
Donald was a workaholic – working a daytime job, then farming in the evenings. He was fed many suppers on the tractors and combine. He worked at Buck Carter Tire many years ago, as well as at Weiss Excavating and Willard D. Hickam Excavating.
He was skilled at operating heavy equipment, digging ponds, basements, clearing many trees and leveling areas for the local orchards and homeowners.
When he was able to take off during warm weather, it was spent fishing and playing softball with his kids. During the winters was sledding and cutting firewood.
We are thankful for your 87 years you were on this earth. We will love you always and we are missing you already!!!
Memorial services were at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
