Ellen Jane Eads
Ellen Jane Eads, 92, of Anna, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1932, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Cecil and Freda Dillow Craft.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Eads of Cobden, Bill (Yavonne) Eads of Cobden, Roger (Lisa) Eads of Anna and David Eads of Cobden; a daughter, Patti Eads Jackson of Anna; two sons-in-law, Jimmy Mount of Anna and Donnie Verble of Jonesboro; grandchildren Lisa (Marty) Penrod, Erika (Josh) Wheaton, Matt (Sara) Verble, Sara (Jacob) Livesay, Jessica (Troy) Matlock, all of Anna, Leslie (Jack) Doublin of Dongola, Aaron (Joline) Eads of Makanda and Chad (Brandy) Eads of Cobden; great-grandchildren Aurora Wheaton, Brianna, Mirranda, Barret and Summer Eads, Corey Penrod and Austin Doublin; great-great-grandchildren Vince Matlock and Leelah Verble; a brother, Ernest (Charlotte) Craft of Altenburg, Mo.; sisters Sharon Tuschhoff and Martha Barlow, both of Anna; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Mount and Teresa Verble; a son, Bobby Eads; twin brother and sister James and Julie Eads; son-in-law Craig Jackson; brother Alfred Craft; a sister, Ada Clendenin; and many other cherished family members and friends.
She was a lifelong member of Gospel Assembly Church in Anna. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Company for many years and then at the Anna State Hospital (Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna) for 15 years.
She loved gardening and working with her flowers. She was a wonderful, hardworking mother who always put her family first. She was loved by many.
Funeral services for Ellen Jane Eads were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Gaylen Holden officiating. Interment followed in the Anna Cemetery.
